As great of a week as it has been, of course I had to have a moment where it was all thrown out the window for a few minutes. Life sometimes throws obstacles in your way to make you SOOOOOOOOO mad. Well, maybe not you, but definitely me. So I will tell you why I am mad...
Today I had to work. I was all joyful the entire day because my S.O got us tickets to the Barrista's ball, which is tonight mind you, and I LOVE to be dolled up. So he got the tickets and the next day I called the place I usually go to when I want to get my hair straightened and trimmed. So I called the place early Wednesday morning and made an appointment for today, Friday at 3:00 since I didn't get off until 2:30 and the latest the took appointments was 3:00pm. So after I rushed to leave work after they attempted to keep me there forever, I drove on to the OTHER side of town to make this appointment. After two phone calls, a missed exit and some high strung emotions, I finally made it. I jumped out of the car, imagined what I would look like after I left, and that calmed me down. I thought about how healthy and shiny it would be and how my ends would get a trim. Yes, I was going to be F-L-Y!
I get into the salon and check in. The receptionist asks for my name. I give it to her. I sign the check in sheet. She asks again. I say it again. Then she says the worst freaking thing you can say to a diva when she needs a hair do..."We don't have an appointment for you." Excuse me? What the hell do you mean you don't have an appointment? "The girl didn't schedule an appointment for you." Oh so you mean I don't have an appointment? I can't get my hair done????? Oh HELL NAW! I stomped out, fuming and in tears. I called my S.O and of course he had to calm me down. (I was secretly hoping he'd tell me to go get a new dress, to make me feel better but that didn't happen!) So he suggested I do my own hair. I hate taking this gamble because it is hit or miss when I straighten my own hair. He consoled me and said that I do a good job. It is HIS JOB to say that!!!! Ugh. So I mean, I guess I will give it a try. It is not like the idiot female who was supposed to take my appointment gave me any choice. I'm still mad but I am going to be fly tonight and I can't wait! I will try to take pictures but it is not a guarantee.
I hate hair salons but now, I hate them even more. I really need to learn how to do my own hair for real!
I am off to do this wig of mine now. I hope all of you have a great Friday and a great weekend! I am going to call this place first thing Monday morning and act up! Actually, I am going to make a visit!
Ugh!

Bad Hair Day: I'm Pissed
I have a confession. Friday night... I was tempted to rip my hair out after an hour trying to create a quick style=FAIL...I was so very upset, almost to tears because I was so frustrated. So let me explain. I am a washn go girl hands down. But last night, I found out I had two hours to get ready for a meet and greet with my sweetie's Black Law Student Association. So I thought, hmm I will try something new! That went down hill quick. I tried to go to my tried and true style that I used to do ono my relaxed hair. Didn't work on my curly hair. So I tried to do a twist up in the back and a poof at the top, again, didn't work. I tried twisting in the front and a little puff in the back, failed again.
At this point I am in tears and my sweetie is trying to console me. I had given up on the attempt and decided I didn't want to go anymore. He encouraged me to try one more time. So I gave in and pinned it up in the back and did two flat twists in the front. I hated it but my outfit was cute (after I changed it because I no longer wanted to wear a cute pencil skirt). I wear skinny jeans and a cute gold top I bought for 11 dollars from NY and Company with some printed tights and some black pumps. I don't have a picture of any of it. That is how mad I was.
When we got there, I was still feeling angry about my hair because there were other naturals there and they had cute hair styles. I soon got over that after a third year came and started smooth talking me. I commented on his cologne and he just went in. Asking me what it would take for him to out to dinner. As he went on and on, he ended up saying: So how would you feel about dating a black, educated man with a good credit score? As he slipped his hand around my waist I slowly pulled back and said, "It feels great to have one and he is right over there!" His poor heart was broken. My sweetie came over in a tizzy, dazed and confused. So after we explained what had happened, the guy who attempted to be my new suitor proceeded to tell him how lucky he was to have such an intelligent and beautiful woman by his side. After about thirty minutes of fawning over me and my boyfriend's treasure, he pleaded for us to find him Ms. Right. LOL, as hilarious as the situation was, I was really flattered. My sweetie was grinning ear to ear (he was flattered too).
But it was a good night after all. I finally came to like my hair style and yesterday I went out and bought some dag-on hair accessories. I'm slowly coming to terms that my hair will do what it wants. I just need to accept that and we will get along.
On another note, I went on my first haul ever. and it was great. I will be posting a picture and blog with all of my goodies which include 3 hair accessories under 10 dollars, 4 pairs of shoes for under 30 dollars, and 3 tops for under 15 and a Buxton Kelly Bag for 20. My good word! I'm ready to show off these goodies!!! Until then, have a great Monday!!!!

Ugh, Oh no she didn't!
OHHHHH, but she really did. My mom...put...a...I can't even say it...I think I am going to cry, for real...Because I told my nieces that if need be I would drive home every two weeks to make sure their hair was done...She...she put...she put a relaxer in HER SIX YEAR OLD HAIR!! Ugh, I am mad. I wanted my nieces, the three of them, to grow up and love their natural hair. And feel proud of their mane like we had to work EXTRA hard to learn as adults. She has beautiful hair. It has all been retained since she's had it and now, a freaking relaxer. Six years old...#ican't
Ok. This may seem a little dramatic to you. But I am serious with every bone in my body. I am saddened because we have a family full of girls. Myself and sisters are newly natural and wanted to be examples to our nieces that we were more than just our hair... Part of me feels like my mom felt the need to, I don't know, tell someone that their hair was too nappy and that a relaxer was necessary....LYES, LIES, LYES!!!! I am livid! Why is it necessary to put a relaxer in a six year old's hair? Can someone answer that question? All they had to do was keep her hair braided and it would have been fine. YES, it took me an hour and a half to detangle her and her 10 year old sister's hair, but guess what, Lord knows I would do it again to prevent her from feeling like her natural hair is not beautiful. I would do it so her older sister would not feel like she would need a relaxer too because of her sister's chemically straight hair...Six years old is just too young for a child to have those harsh chemicals in their hair, kiddy relaxers count too. I wouldn't be so upset if I myself were still getting relaxers but my natural journey has shown me that I relied to much on my chemically, burnt up, broke up, crispity-crunchity, stagnant relaxed hair as I grew up...And that's nothing I would wish on any child...As she grows into a young lady, I hope she learns that her hair is not what makes her beautiful...I hope all of my 5 nieces learn that. Because as black females, we are often told that if our hair is nappy, we are not desired. I wanted to show them differently. I was hoping to show my mom differently...But I guess I lost that battle...Mom 1...Yo-0
